This project would not have been possible without the efforts of Professor Kim Martin and her HIST*4470 students, Aleksa Nitsis, Barry Marshall, Cierra Phillips, and Taylor Povey. This group of fourth-year history students spent the entirety of the Winter 2020 semester researching, conducting interviews, and gathering materials on the history of The Arboretum. These materials were later shared with The Arboretum for further use. Martin and the HIST*4470 students’ research has been a great help in the creation of the Arboretum History website.
Past and present Arboretum staff have also graciously lent their time to assist with this project. Their insights, reviews, and contributions to photographic and written material have allowed this website to grow. Special thanks to John Ambrose, Chris Earley, Sarah Farquharson, Aron Fazekas, Richelle Forsey, Sean Fox, Shelley Hunt, Jenny Lin, Kitty Lin, Justine Richardson, Polly Samland, Alan Watson, Barbara Watson-Ash, Dawn Ann Webster, Cael Wishart, and Kellen Wood. Thank you for your contributions and for carrying on the legacy of The Arboretum.
This website was created and populated with content by Emma Scott. Scott worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The Arboretum during her final year at the University of Guelph. She is glad that she had the opportunity to share the history of The Arboretum with others. We would also like to gratefully acknowledge the University of Guelph McLaughlin Library’s Archival & Special Collections’ photo contributions to this website.
